CONVENTION ON THE COLLECTION, DEPOSIT AND RECEPTION OF WASTE GENERATED DURING NAVIGATION ON THE RHINE AND OTHER INLAND WATERWAYS
The port authority of Antwerp opened the “Lillopark” waste disposal facility more than a year ago. Inland waterway vessels were able to separate and deposit their waste both on weekdays and Saturdays between 07:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m in this location.
Practice shows, however, that only a few ship operators use the facility at the weekend. This being so, the Saturday morning waste disposal service will be transferred to the “Noordkasteelpark” waste collection site on the right bank for a trial period with effect from 4 October.
The port authority will evaluate the success of this initiative after six months.
